Yes, I'm one of those people that wanted a Wii.

My kid saved up his bday (Nov.) and Xmas money and now we're just waiting to find out who's got them in stock. Everywhere I look online -- GameStop, Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, etc. -- is advertising these Wii bundles that come with the console, controllers and a bunch of games, but no the console by itself.

What gives?

Anyone been able to buy one since the holidays?

Helluva question. I've been shopping around too and no luck. Found 'em on eBay but I'm not ready to go that route yet. What gives? Anyone know where they're hiding all the Wii systems in Indy?

you have to call around to see where and when... most people I know have had luck at the smaller shops like GameStop... they get in a handful each week. I just got lucky to call on the right day. That was around last easter.

Good god. I don't mind waiting, I just want an idea of when they'll be back around.

What gives?!

I found a few on Craigslist. I want a ps3 but I will wait to splurge on that once I'm in in the new house I believe.

I'd rather wait until they're available again than pay a premium on Craigslist or eBay. And I'm really not into waiting in lines or calling around. Why can't someone just announce, "Hey, we've got Wii's in stock again." Or, "We'll have Wii's again on Jan. 31" or whatever.

Is it really that hard?

Or is it still part of Nintendo's marketing ploy to keep demand up by keeping supply low?

They are just THAT awesome and can't build them fast enough. Seriously. I was one of the lucky ones that got one right away when they first came out. Everyone comes over to play it. And then they want one. And then they can't find one. If they were priced high like the PS3, they might not have sold like they did, but they were priced fair, and that's why they keep selling out. All the nursing homes have them now, it gets people up and moving. My 71 year old dad will play the golf game for 8 hours straight. I always yell at the lazy people who want to try and play the games from their chair. It's about getting up out of the chair people! Sheesh!

I saw a pile of them at SuperTarget on Michigan Road a few weeks back. I told a coworker who went there two days later and they were out. The best time to search for one is early Saturday mornings. Often, the stores hold them in reserve for weekend shoppers.

Sunday mornings are the best time to find them if they are in a stores sale ad. I used to work at Target. When they are going to be in the ad the store will not sell them during the week if they have them, just so they are in stock the day the sale/ad takes affect. I believe you Target's sale on online on Saturday before they would be on sale.

I found it easy if you hit some of the non "SUPER STORE" Stores. Like the smaller Target in Nora.

Thanks for the advice. I'll have to start employing a few tactics to try to track one down.

However, I'm truly beginning to think that all of this is just a marketing ploy. I think they CAN make enough to meet demand, but don't just to keep people wanting it, to keep the demand and the buzz about the Wii high.

See, now something like this SHOULD be helpful, but it's just not. Booooo!

I was very lucky in finding my Wii. We went to a second hand store, where someone had sold there Wii to the store because they did not like it. We must have arrived soon after, all about good timing. Just a thought on an alternative place to look!

Best of luck to you and your son!

Just scored one yesterday at GameStop in Castleton. I started checking in at various GameStops this week and found that each store gets a few each week delivered via UPS in the morning. We called yesterday morning to see if any arrived, they had, we zoomed over and were third in line to purchase one. Good luck!

I went the ebay route. I did spend more than retail, but still not as much as some folks. It's all about demand. I hope that they come out with more games for it and keep the competition with PS3 and XBOX360 going.

Mike :)

PS: I don't normally like golf, but I did like Tiger Woods 2008.
