For those that have walked by the Canal since it was drained in November, it's looked like a giant, frozen mess. Well, it's still a giant, semi-frozen mess, but cleanup is well underway now that the heavy equipment is here to bulldoze loads of mud and muck. Although it's still ugly, it's MUCH better than it was just a few weeks ago.
Wonder if they've found the engagement ring that someone threw in during a breakup -- the couple is back together and would like it returned if found!

I heard about that. It doesn't really look like they're going through with a fine tooth comb though. Scoop and dump.
UPDATE FROM THE CANAL FOLKS:
Even though it is not pretty right now, progress is being made and the estimated date of completion is 2/29/08. To date there has been over 2,475 yards of dirt, sediment and weeds removed from the canal, this equals 180 semi-truck loads and 9,627 fish have been safely relocated to the White River.
I propose a demolition derby with bulldozers before they fill it back up..
