Just read the story in the Star and am thrilled to know that all the people that spend the extra money on specialty plates, particularly the environment plate that I bought, actually adds up to something good. 50,000 acres of habitat bought? That's amazing.

And on that note, I've NEVER seen as many specialty plates as I have in Indiana. Cali has a couple, mostly just schools, but they're rare. Here, it seems like at least 30% of the population has one (especially the In God We Trust ones, because they're free).

What specialty plate do you have and/or still want to see?

We have a Riley Hospital plate, both to support the hospital and because our son's name is Riley. We have a cool number, too.

The cynic in me would like a plate that says "I'm secure enough in my beliefs that I don't need to put them on my license plate."

I like to observe which plates are owned by the most maniac drivers. The most aggresive drivers tend to have either "In God We Trust" or "Kids First" plates. Irony?

Totally. I think that's funny too.

I agree, I wish I didn't feel the need to put my beliefs on a license plate. And honestly, if our environmental policies in this state were a little less offensive, I wouldn't have felt the need to pony up the extra $25.

Actually, it's kind of obnoxious that there are so many, and for EVERYTHING.

Oh man, this has got to be one of the best licenses I've seen:

I think the nerds out there will really appreciate these ones:

environmental plate FTW

have had one approx 10 years now - they even send you a neat little pamphlet each year with all of the projects that the plates have helped make possible

and fwiw, I think they look a lot better on cars

now if we could only go back to the much higher-quality stamped plates! I'm for cost-cutting, sure... but I liked the old school stamped ones a lot more
