Welcome Home!!!! That should be the sign that greets patrons outside of the door when they attend Midtown Arts & Music, a 3 month old Jazz/Poetry Venue that is gaining momentum every week. Last night's open mic was almost a reminder of last Sunday's phenomenal show. The feature, The Necessary Poet, proved why he is indeed VERY NECESSARY! Armed with his book, his memory and his three man band, he set out to steal the night with his unique way of delivering truth right into the ears of the listeners. I must say i was pleased. If you have never heard him perform or at least have never heard his piece "America Eats Her Young", i would say your next destination needs to be where ever he is, and maybe requesting that poem. Along with The Necessary Poet, other poets such as SIAM, Allen Imagery, Clyde Grits (the artist formerly known as Tony Styxx) and the Queen of Haikus, MomJara, brought down whatever walls the feature left up. The crowd energy was amazing, full and I even saw someone from way back in the Cozy days, whom i have not seen out since then. So if you are ever wondering where the place to be is on Sunday nights at 8pm, be sure to stop by Midtown Arts & Music, pick up their specialty drink, Death by Chocolate, and prep your ears for a rollercoaster ride of TRUTH! C U THERE!!!
Sounds good---what is the address?
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the address is:
519 E. 38th St., Indianapolis, IN, 46205
It's listed as Midtown Arts & Coffee Lounge in our database.
Here's the venue's profile page.
Not sure of the exact address, but it is located on the corner of 38th and Central (next door to Dominos Pizza)...they also have free food!!!...pizza, chicken wings, meatballs, something of that sort....hope to see you there one day!
