According to Matador Records' web site, ex-Pavement singer/guitarist Stephen Malkmus will play the Vogue with his band, the Jicks, on March 22.
If you're like me and'll only believe it if you see it, go here: http://www.matadorrecords.com/matablog/
The Jicks' new album, Real Emotional Trash, comes out in early March. Listen to a track ("Baltimore") here.
I'm pretty sure this Malkmus' first show in Indy, either with Pavement or otherwise. My guess is this'll sell out early.
March 22nd is a Saturday if anyone was wondering. Great news. Thanks for the heads up Matt. Remind me to buy tickets before it's too late.
Ticket info:
Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks will perform March 22 at the Vogue, 6259 N. College Ave.
Malkmus, known for his work with 1990s rock band Pavement, is touring to promote upcoming Jicks album "Real Emotional Trash."
Tickets for the Vogue show, priced at $18, go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.
Tickets will be available at the venue, at Ticketmaster locations, by visiting www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (317) 239-5151.
I'm sending my personal ticket-buyer there first thing Friday a.m.
Any word on an opener? I know they had some dates scheduled with Blitzen Trapper, who I'd probably pay to see if they were comin' alone.
Pavement played on the main stage at Deer Creek for Lollapalooza '95. Other than that, I don't know of any other Pavement/Malkmus appearances in Indy.
