so...this crazed wave of anti-smoking has infected the american mind like the flu. You know, i am not a smoker myself, but i truly do empathize for those who do smoke, mostly for the reason that simply the moment you walk outside your door you are exposed to hunhdreds of harmful pollutants, without even doing anything! even in our own homes you cannot escape harmful chemicals and bacteria, so i have to exercise the famous elizabethean qoute: 'let them have their cake and eat i, too.' you know what, everyday factories are spilling fumes into our atmosphere, creating toxic chemical cocktails that we get to enjoy every time we step outside, especially in the city. so here we have a cult of anti-smoking fanatics spending millions on anti smoking campaigns, celebrating their victories by banning your average joe from enjoying a smoke (with their beer) after a long hards day at work at his local bar or what have you, also banning them from being within 'X' amount of feet from a business so all of us non smokers can breathe easier. yeah....you keep telling yourself that, rob reiner. in fact, i heard some woman complaining about how her throat hurts after being at the bar from all the cigarette smoke. ok, well lets put it this way; DONT GO TO THE BAR!! problem solved. alcohol and nicotine are best friends, afterall. i dont mean to sound hasty, but now adays, with all the anti smoking regualtions, why go to the bar where you know there will be people smoking, and then throw a hissy fit about it??? GO TO THE THOUSANDS OF OTHER PLACES WHERE PEOPLE LEGALLY CANNOT SMOKE!!!! ok i'm done.
I'm not a smoker and I'm loving it. I quit smoking 10 years ago and it's like I've become allergic to it now. I start sneezing, wheezing, coughing, can't breathe, whatever. My husband has never smoked and he has the same reaction. We wouldn't go to certain restaurants because of the smoke that would float over from the bar or smoking section. But now it's like heaven. We can go anywhere and not have to think about it. It was awful having to hold our breath coming and going from a building. I quit going to see my friends band play because I would end up with a sore throat which would then turn into a cold. It just wasn't worth it. When I was a smoker, it was long before the bans were even though of around here. But yet I banned myself from smoking in certain areas because I didn't want the smoke to bother others. I wouldn't smoke in restaurants, I would even ask to sit in a non-smoking section because I didn't want the smoke in my face while I ate. People choose to smoke. I don't think non-smokers should be forced to be around it. It gets in your clothes, you take it home with you. I think if you want to smoke then you can wait to have a smoke in your car or in a smoking area with other smokers. As far as pollution goes, I don't think we should have to be forced to breathe that either, but that's left up to the politicians. I don't want to get into that.
