Supposedly, I'm the TV guy, but hear me out anyway.
The new Band of Horses album, Cease to Begin, is fabulous. And I wasn't even that big of a fan of their first album, Everything All The Time. "The Great Salt Lake" was good, I reckon, but not good like Cease to Begin is good. It's a different good. I'm sure this is clear as mud.
Anyway, the new one. Me likey. A good mix of echo-y vocals and jangly guitars and that My Morning Jacket-gone-Sub Pop sound, a couple years more mature. And great album art, again, if you're into that sort of thing. Maybe you just buy stuff from iTunes and don't need the tactile sensation of opening a CD and smelling the ink or peeling off the annoying label on the top that always leaves residue and singlehandedly justifies your purchase of Goo Gone. Maybe that's you. Or just me.
So check it out. You can acquire this disc at Luna Music or Indy CD & Vinyl or any large corporate behemoth that sells CDs but also is owned by The Man.
Thanks for the heads up. I dig the bands anthems. I definitely can hear the My Morning Jacket similarities. While looking them up I noticed they'll be in Chicago at Metro on Nov. 12th.
