Do you want to worship and hear/recite poetry, well The Way has the answer, Poetry and Praise Spoken Word Sunday, to be held December 30, featuring poet Siam and hosted by J. Rhodes? The Way is a community-focused ministry that is culturally Africentric and has combined the powerful spoken word movement with revolution of Christ. Befitting in its movement, but don't stop there, this very progressive ministry will also host Kwanzaa Celebration on December 31, at 6PM. The seven principles stress togetherness - Umoja, self -determination - Kujichagulia, responsibility/obligation - Ujima, cooperative economics - Ujamaa, purpose - Nia, creativity - Kuumba, and faith - Imani. If you are looking for something to do than visit The Way at 2511 East 46th Street Building H, these events are free but freewill gifts/donations are appreciated. For more information call 317.529.3768/317.545.1095
For those who missed this event, you missed something truly fabulous. Rev. James Anyike is an awesome revolutionary to have thought up such a "worship service", and it worked. We arrived in the midst of testimony being faciliated by Minister & Poet Maxine Bryant. There was such anointing in the atmosphere that at one point, every one was on his/her feet singing and rocking to praises of the Most High. Jda1 [Jeff Rhodes] did a great job hosting the poetry session of the service - radiating lots of positive, loving energy. SIAM was as dynamic as ever while also sharing the floor with Flautist Cleve Bottoms and Percussionist Dr. Dadashenarehema Jones.
This was an event! Will this be a monthly event?
Tasha, We will have to ask Rev. Anyike about that. He does have a Breakfast planned for the King holiday. God-willing, SIAM will embody Dr. King & Wille Frank Middlebrook will be speaking. I can post more details as soon as i get them, provided you don't get them posted first. ;-)
Thank you...either way is fine, I just want to make sure people are informed...
