An impressive array of talent is ready to usher in the new year around town
If a Monday night in Indianapolis is overflowing with top-notch live entertainment, it must be New Year's Eve.
Here are 20 options -- categorized by genre -- for ringing in 2008.
The Rev. Peyton's Big Damn Band

The hard-traveling rural blues trio known as the Big Damn Band will play dates with Celtic punk band Flogging Molly across the United States in February and March.
Biscuit Miller and the Mix

Family New Year's Eve

Highlighted by an 8 p.m. balloon drop, the annual all-ages celebration at the Indiana State Museum will include magicians, clowns and music from the band Dog Talk.
Zoo Year's Eve

Highlighted by 9 p.m. fireworks, the annual all-ages celebration at the Indianapolis Zoo will include the Radio Disney Party Patrol, special animal shows and free rides on the carousel.
Clifford Ratliff

Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra

Established in 1978 and billed as the first punk band in Indianapolis, the Latex Novelties have resurfaced with Justin Allen (ex-Slurs) on vocals. The reunited Gizmos, who are recognized as Indiana's first punk band, also will appear at Locals Only.
Punk Rock Night New Year's Eve

The Melody Inn's Saturday franchise of Punk Rock Night adds a holiday edition featuring the Toxic Reasons, a punk band that formed in 1979 in Dayton, Ohio. Indianapolis resident Bruce Stuckey has been a member of more than a dozen Toxic lineups since then.
