$15.98 (list price), Lo-fi Pop, Hall of Records

Basic Story: Ariel Pink reaches back yet again to reissue a collection of tracks that originally appeared on two separate self-released double albums in 2002.

Sample: As far as I can tell…: "Beefbud behind the patio/ catacombs/ design a stereo and leave the womb now."

Verdict: Ariel Pink is one of those artists that you either love or hate. With hardly a "conventional" song to call his own, he has instead mastered the art of combining pop songs with tape hiss, drumbeats done by mouth and what can only be drug induced lyricism, which together can paint a pretty psychedelic picture. The opening track, "Gopacapulco," has enough song fragments to be split into another albums worth of material, but as challenging as that sounds, the end result has me on the lovers' side.
