Three ramps are reopening for traffic this week in the Accelerate 465 highway construction zone on the Westside, but relief for motorists may be temporary.

Construction crews are planning to close other ramps in the area in October for the next phase of the project.

The work is all part of the $550 million reconstruction and widening of 11 miles of the west leg of I-465. This is the third year of the five-year project.

In the latest signs of progress for motorists, the ramp from southbound I-465 to U.S. 40 (Washington Street) reopened Monday. Construction crews have been completing new pavement to tie in the new ramp to the main roads.

Also, the new ramp from West 10th Street to northbound I-465 is due to reopen today, when the final concrete connections are complete.

Both of those ramps have been closed since Sept. 10.

A third new Westside ramp, the I-465 northbound ramp to Rockville Road/U.S. 36, is due to reopen by Friday if weather permits the final concrete work.
