A second woman wanted in a series of robberies of elderly women was arrested Tuesday by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Ashley Spraddling, 24, Indianapolis, was taken into custody when she went to a funeral home to make arrangements for a child who died this week, said police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Mount.

Spraddling had been wanted on robbery and fraud warrants after several women in their 70s and 80s reported being the victims of purse grabs while shopping at Eastside stores over the past month and a half. Police previously arrested Laritha Martin, 25, Indianapolis, on robbery and theft charges.

Spraddling was arrested at Williams and Bluitt Funeral Home, 3919 N. Keystone Ave. Her infant daughter died Sunday, police said.

Police said they also have questioned four other women in their investigation of other robberies of elderly women this spring.
