WOXY.com is playing their Top 97 songs from 1997 today. There are some great ones---"Stereo" by Pavement and Yo La Tengo's "Sugarcube". Respond if you have some decade-old favorite songs, or if you have an answer to Paula Cole's (possibly) rhetorical question. www.woxy.com
James, U2, The Cardigans... MAN i love WOXY today.
p.s. i pretty much always hated that whiny Paula Cole song...sorry!
I remember '97 as the year I got hooked on Belle & Sebastian, Beth Orton and (finally) Elliott Smith. I was still rockin' to Guided By Voices (which had morphed to GBVerde) and Pavement. Oh man this is bringing up too many memories to type. I should dig up my top o the year list.
Hmmm, an independently-owned radio station that played Pavement and Yo La Tengo instead of "classic" hits from Steve Windwood and John Mellencamp? What a concept! It's easy to forget how vital WOXY was in those years before internet and satellite radio. And they still put out a great product with great people running the show.
Today WOXY.com is playing their Top 30 songs from 1990. Was(Not Was) anyone?
I'm thinking that Mr. Big song and "Save the Best for Last" by Vanessa Williams will be played. Also, "I Can't Make You Love Me" by Bonnie Raitt.
And yes, this is off the top of my head. I'm THAT lame.
