Today:
As 2007 comes to a close, I want to thank everyone who came out to hear me sing, and/or bought the jazz CD of standards we released last January, "A Place to Dream." Thanks most of all to my favorite jazz piano man, Ken Fary, who has mentored, arranged, and accompanied me in the studio and performances since March 2006. For their contributions on the CD, thanks to bassist Jack Helsley, drummer Sam Withrow, sax man Michael Stricklin, trumpeter Jeff Conrad, and engineer Michael Graham at the Lodge Studios. Thanks to Monie Heath for helping with publicity for the CD. Thanks a bunch to everyone at The Jazz Kitchen for hosting our CD Release Show, and to David Andrichick for hosting our three shows this year at The Chatterbox.
Thanks to Deano, Laura and everyone at Deano's Vino for the numerous solo gigs. Thanks to NUVO for my two appearances at The Indianapolis Museum of Art A.M.P. Series. Thanks to Donna, Harley and Shirlee at Teapots & Treasures on Mass. Ave. for giving me a corner to do songs & poetry during the Fringe Festival. Thanks to Cat and Dana for my six Friday nights at Center Stage Cafe late in the year.
Thanks to Chuck Workman for his interest and support, for giving me airplay and an interview on WICR in February. Thanks to Indianapolis Monthly for the capsule review of the CD in their September issue. Thanks to Brian Patterson and the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation for welcoming me into the community. Thanks to photographers Michael Allen and Tony Shaw for the great pics.
Personal thanks to my wife, Vicki, for her steadfast support, and to best pal Rick Sparks for his interest and encouragement, lo these many years.
These thanks would be incomplete if I did not thank the many people who heard me sing live in the last couple of years, and who graciously took the time to tell me that they loved the material (standards), liked my style, enjoyed my performing, or (especially) loved my voice. It made me very happy.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS to Everyone in Indy!! --D.A.
