Ok, I've had a chance to twice visit the Children's Museum of Indianapolis' newest permanent exhibition, The Power of Children. For those of you who grew up here (or have children or just enjoy TCM's incredible environment), this is a re-do of their Mysteries in History exhibition space. The show looks at the stories of Anne Frank, Ruby Bridges (the first African American child to attend a white school in the south), and Ryan White. I would highly recommend checking it out. I spent FOREVER going through and reading all the information. It is fascinating and its messages are universal. They attempt some pretty neat AV presentations, and all three stories have a centerpiece recreation of a specific setting from that particular character's life...the attic where Anne Frank hid, the classroom where Ruby studied, and Ryan White's bedroom. The bedroom is outfitted with all the original contents from Ryan's room, donated to the museum by his mother following his death. If you are lucky enough to be there when live interpreters do their performances of these characters, kudos. The kid who did Ryan White brought me to tears.

Check it out!

Completely agree.

I have a 6 year old daughter and a 2 year old son, and I couldn't believe some of the amazing questions my 6 year old came up with on the ride home about why she (Anne) had to hide for so long. It definitely will be one of the conversations with her I will never forget, because even with the innocence of childhood, I really feel she "got" it.
