I am noticing in my little corner (arts and culture) that three are a lost of posts that well... don't really fit the category. And it seems that people are just clicking the max on the categories they can just to get their messages seen. Not really niche marketing in my opinion. I mean if I were to post my stuff on Dining or Nightlife people would be like, "What;s the Theatre Dude posting his crap here for?" So, I appeal to those of you with events of any type... TARGET YOUR AUDIENCE. Just because you CAN choose 4 categories does not mean that your post belongs in 4. Thanks for your consideration.
Hi, Ty and others:
Great comment! It's all about reaching those who need to hear your message. I think we're still getting used to the new social media, and the result is some distracting clutter and a few frayed nerves and ruffled feathers.
Oh, well--those are growing pains, I suppose.
Thanks for keeping us all honest and for fighting the good fight. You're a big part of the cultural scene here. Keep it up!
Best for the holidays and beyond, dh
i think this falls under the "People" category. thanks for making me click something that doesnt belong. you win!
Preach on Ty! Preach on.
This is the most ironic post I have seen. Thanks for the chuckle. (you chose four categories)
I chose the categories that seem to have the most inappropriate crossover in ARTS & CULTURE... "come to this bar" "come to this singles dance" etc. My hope is to keep the categories from becoming diluted and looking all the same. If you go back and look at any of my other posts I limit myself to 2. Which I hope the Indy.com admin will place the limit to officially.
Those admin types,... I tell you what.
If you choose, you can contact the Star and make the suggestion. The Star is always interested in hearing from users.
The latest post in ARTS and CULTURE... Roller Derby and Grooveatron and the Mousetrap... just push those real posts down folks...thanks a lot.
The moderators will take care of it.
I think the problem is having the Associated Press postings show up.
How about posting only things relevant to Indianapolis? Some people seem to think this is IMDB.
Rules, rules, rules...
Well said. Interestingly enough I may very well be at fault here because I have a broad view of "culture". From now on before posting to various categories I'll ask my self, "WWTD?" (What Would TyCSrover Do?).
