Anybody know why the sirens were going off?

I live on the canal downtown and tonight around 10:30pm some really odd sounding sirens went off for about 15 minutes. Oddly enough they sounded more like the old fashioned air raid sirens than tornado sirens. There was nothing on the news about it and it obviously wasn't weather related.. I'm just curious if anybody knows what that was about.. I heard a lot of confused people wandering around the apartment hallways and in the streets. Hehe.
