This is kind of embarrassing, but hey, having 2 small children destroys your social life, so about the only thing I can comment on with any confidence is #4 & #10.

Drink of choice: The answer is Vodka. Lots of it with a smidgen of Cranberry juice. Often before 5pm. :-D Place to take kids: Daycare or barring that, The Zoo.

Oh wait!! #20: Local bookstore: Definitely 1/2 Price Books.

What is the new

1) hot spot eatery - Downtown - Badaboomz! South - Shallos

2)shopping district - Broad Ripple - for its unique shopping pleasures!

3) nightlife district - Downtown -- in the warm weather, you can't beat the Biergarten at the Rathskeller! Overall, there are now lots of nightlife options downtown -- martini bars, clubs, live music venues...

4) drink of choice - Oatmeal Cookie Martini at Blu

5) place to live (suburb) - Hmmm...I guess it doesn't really matter since there' no chance I will be leaving my current neighborhood anytime soon thanks to all the "mortgage walk outs." So sad.

6) place to see live music. Rathskeller Biergarten (summer) or Music Mill (winter)

7) place to buy music - Target :)

8) local online resource - Indy.com, of course! (And, Meetup.com for social networking purposes.)

9) sports team - COLTS

10) place to take kids - The only kids I have are furry and walk around on four legs...so I would say Eagle Creek Park - great trails!

11) place to work out - Indys streets. Walk, run, jog...

12) family entertainment - Indianapolis Zoo...or just walking the canal

13) fast food restaurant -Jimmy Johns

14) TV show - Do TV shows still exist?? We need to have a "watchers" strike...how dare they cut us off before we get to see a Christmas episode of "The Office"!

15) home improvement store - Home Depot

16) movie theater - Love the dollar theaters - particularly the one in Greenwood.

17) TV station - We have some great stations! I faithfully watch RTV6 in the mornings, though! (Paul Poteet is great!)

18) local celebrity - Peyton Manning...how can you not love a guy that does sooo much for the city? And now a children's hospital? I have a great deal of respect for him.

19) local band - Love listening to Sam King sing!

20) local bookstore - Half Price Books

1) hot spot eatery - Petit Chou. Patachou all dressed up. Less granola and a little more chic in a trendy Broad Ripple location.

2)shopping district - Broad Ripple. But Mass Ave has got some great new shops. So that's a tough call.

3) nightlife district - Downtown. You can't beat the diversity. From trashy (Wild Beaver) to classy (Blu, Six, etc), loud and fun (Howl at the Moon) to intimate (Chatterbox, Nicky Blaine's), sports bars, pubs, cheap (Mass Ave Pub) to pricey, there's plenty of selection.

4) drink of choice - Vanilla Pomegranate Cosmo at Weber Grill. Divine.

5) place to live (suburb) - I like where I live. But it's not the 'burbs.

6) place to see live music - Music Mill has great acoustics. But the Mel is just CLASSIC. The Upper Room is great too, or the Jazz Kitchen. So many great places to see music, it's hard to choose.

7) place to buy music - Indy CD & Vinyl or Luna. Although, I tend to go cheap and get a lot of stuff on half.com.

8) local online resource - IN indy.com, OUT intakeweeky.com ;)

9) sports team - I'd like to say the Naptown Roller Girls or the Speed or something, but the Colts really just kick ass. It's hard to compete.

10) place to take kids - Indianapolis Zoo, Children's Museum, park.

11) place to work out - I love the Y. For what I pay and what I get, I couldn't be happier. And the staff knows me. What could be better?

12) family entertainment - Hollywood Video. ;)

13) fast food restaurant - Yats. Doesn't get much faster or cheaper, without all the grease.

14) TV show - I don't watch enough TV to say anything intelligent here. Though I'm really enjoying "Pushing Daisies."

15) home improvement store - I plead the fifth. I just bought my level and studfinder at Target.

16) movie theater - Keystone Arts. Booze, vegan cookies, hummus and pita, great indie films? What more could you want?!

17) TV station - YouTube.

18) local celebrity - Jenny Elig. ;)

19) local band - Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band!!!

20) local bookstore - Big Hat Books (cute and quaint) or Half-Price Books (on the cheap)

Craigslist? CRAIGSLIST!?! You mean the force most responsible for the demise of the MSM?

OK, even if I didn't hate Craig Newmark for sucking billions of dollars out of the newspaper industry by giving away classified listings for free ("Hey, I'm rich already, what do I care if tens of thousands of people rely on this revenue for their livelihoods?"), Craigslist doesn't belong because it's not a local online resource. They're in San Fran.

I'd substitute Angie's List, which is based here in Indy.

Yeah, but they have sites in EVERY city, making it a local resource.

Roommates, furniture . . . find it all on Craigslist. Love it. Despite what it's done to my former profession.

True that Kimiko. Angie's list has sites in other cities too. Are those people not able to claim those sites as their own?
