Basic Story: Working together with Brian Eno and Paul Weller, among others, Robert Wyatt returns with a three act concept solo record.
Sample: "It looks pretty grim/ in the Methodist hall/ despite a poster which says that 'He's There for Us All'/ It's a beautiful day/ but not here."
Verdict: The highly influential Robert Wyatt has been releasing solo records under the radar since 1970 but this may very well be his breakthrough. Focusing primarily on his distaste with western civilization, the 62-year-old has crafted something truly memorable here. The opening track, 'Stay Tuned,' apparently has Thom Yorke hitting the repeat button and for good reason. In it, Wyatt's vocal delivery is so achingly beautiful that, like the rest of the album, only the coldest of hearts won't be affected by it.
