Bloomington, IN! Sit next to the bookstore near the escalators at the Union Building to meet all sorts of interesting folks. I have never seen any spot in Indianapolis that compares to the Union Building near the escalators.
If you must remain in Indianapolis, try the Friday night art openings listed here in Indycom which are occasionally fun. Or try the monthly Fringe Festival events on the last Friday of the month.
