Christopher Moore....and yes, it usually does as I can't help but read outloud to innocent bystanders (I may become the crazy lady down the street that yells out random things at neighbors when I grow old!).

Like "in da butt" and "kitty"?

I just recently discovered Christopher Moore and am enamored since I found myself engrossed and constantly chuckling to myself and those around me continually asked what was so damn funny.

"Mommies Who Drink" was pretty damn funny too. Think "Sex in the City" with kids.

Might just be my sense of humor, but earlier Chuck Palahniuk novels (specifically: "Fight Club", "Survivor" and "Invisible Monsters") have some of the best darkly humorous lines.

Like I said, I have a strange sense of humor ...

Of course, I've mentioned this before, but Palahniuk (and I'm a huge fan) is the king of the law of diminishing returns. Every novel after those three has gotten progressively worse (actually, if you throw "Survivor", my favorite, out they get progressively worse in general).

I "third" the Christopher Moore vote - laughed out loud at that book more times than I could count.

BUT...I think Choke (c.palahniuk) had some noteworthy humor. Not quite Fight Club par, but noteworthy all the same...

Yeah ... remembered "Choke" right as I hit submit. The last really good one ... starting getting gimmicky after that.

But seriously, the newest one, "Rant" ... just bad. I really am a big fan, but I felt like I wanted my money back when I finished it (and I had checked it out of the library).

I'm pretty partial to David Sedaris. "Me Talk Pretty One Day" and "Dress Your Family in Courduroy and Denim" are both VERY funny.

I really crack up when Sedaris writes about his brother, "The Rooster". I heard him read one at Butler a few years ago. Plenty of hilarious cussing.

I agree with Joe and John about Sedaris. He always makes me laugh out loud. I'm going to have to check out this Christopher Moore character.

Brett Paesel, Diablo Cody, Erma Bombeck, Sophie Kinsella, Janet Evanovich *note to self: must read something by David Sedaris

Great idea for a post johnny. I see a few titles I have yet to read here, thanks. A book that can give you a few good lines, is one that can keep on giving.
