The CNN(cross-promotional-marketing)YouTube Debate was broadcasted last night (11/29/07), or as it should have been called Romney-Giuliani Debate, or which middle-aged to elderly, wealthy, white man ought we have in the Oval Office?
The Candidates:
Giuliani: Rudy did an excellent job of reinforcing the opinions that everyone already knew he held. He was attacked often regarding his stances on abortions and gun control, but did a good job answering the attacks. The constant attacks probably worked to his betterment because it allowed him to receive more "face time" on TV.
Huckabee: Mike did a great job and I can see why he is leading the pack in Iowa. Huckabee appears to be the traditional conservative and out of 'mainstream politics' which makes him a little refreshing. He also has a sense of humor (i.e.: Chuck Norris facts) which seems to be helping him in the primaries.
Hunter: Who? CNN never really gave him the television time he probably deserved. He was a midget on a stage of giants.
McCain: It seemed like McCain didn't even want to be there, and I don't blame him. But it makes you wonder, if he can't gander up enough enthusiasm for a debate, what will happen during a possible McCain Presidency?
Paul: I liked Ron Paul until this debate. His answered seemed rushed and he usually answered with an "irk" in his voice.
Romney: Eh? I think he may be trying to hard to reach out to conservative Christians. You are a Mormon, I get it. If a Christian isn't going to vote for you because you aren't a Christian, ugh, even if your policies are exactly identical, this is as ridiculous as an African-American who completely disagrees with his policies, but votes for Obama just because he is black.
Tancredo: Like Hunter, he was given very little time to answer questions and rebuttals. I think the networks have already ruled him out as a possible candidate and as a direct result of the media, Tancredo will never make it.
Thompson: You act well on Law & Order, but you act like a fool during Presidential debates. Huckabee has taken Thompson's place on the list of top contenders.
