As it get's frigid out,I learned in Italy,that there is one thing that will warm your bones and heart "Vin Brule'" it's easy to prepare and has a warm and fuzzy effect that is pleasing. Ingredients: I bottle(1 liter) of full bodied red wine. 1 cup of sugar Grated zest of an orange and some lemon zest as well. 4 cloves.
Add everything in a sauce pan large enough to hold the ingredients and stir. Bring it all to a boil. Flame the Vin Brule' by lighting a flame over the boiling mixure and let the booze burn out(if you desire). Serve in you favorite"comfort" cup and enjoy!
this is very similar to mulled wine, but I ve always read to NEVER boil it... Any thoughts on that?
I think I would like this less spice laden recipe, and the fiery doom sounds fun!
Oh..must be cooked. Essential to bring it to a boil to flame it and emalgolmize the spice of your choosing.'Tis fun indeed.
