Any recommendations for a comfortable karaoke venue? You know, where the pub mgmt supports the karaoke; the host makes everyone feel included and welcome; and strives to remind the customers that variety is part of the fun of karaoke. There is nothing wrong with venues that cater to the semi-pro singers who enjoy their bits of fame as the best singers in the house, and for contests to highlight their talents. But there are a lot of singers who enjoy the weekly opportunity to sing a few favorite songs, listen to their friends sing their favorites, while enjoying companionship and some good food and drink. There must be a place where we can do this without having the host taking cell phone calls or chatting with personal friends in the room while singers are performing, or be subjected to a small group of regulars who are disrepectful to any singers outside their group. Any recommendations?
Isn't it just the nature of organizational behavior? When a group(s) of people come together for any reason, a certain order of events takes place. It seems to develop at the youngest ages (grade school) and continue indefinetely from there. It's a popularity contest. My advice is to "sack up" and just deal with it. Thicken up the skin, get out and go for it!
I suggest One Liners/Wilsons on the south side. Awesome place to sing Karaoke, and they have shows many nights during the week. I think they are the best! :o)
I have no idea, I'd like to know too
You might want to join an online community like Indianapolis Karaoke Meetup. This is a group dedicated to karaoke and fun. Instead of going out by yourself to a place you don't know you can hang out with a bunch of folks that are there for the same reason. We are having an event at a great place (Marty's on Keystone Ave.) on Friday, 7/18 with a warm and friendly KJ (Lil' Bit). Check out the details on Marty's at www.indysingers.com. I believe that One Liners/Wilsons is now closed and out of business. Check for the phone number in the yellow pages and call before burning unnecessary fuel for the trip to Greenwood.
