Get your picnic baskets ready! The FREE Family Arts Series is back again this summer.

The Family Arts Series was started in 2008 to provide a new stage and audience for some of Indianapolis’ premiere performing arts groups in an outdoor park setting. The FREE concerts provided the opportunity for families from all walks of life to enjoy an afternoon or evening of entertainment. Our vision for the series is to connect family audiences and passionate community partners with White River State Park. Ultimately, each event within the series will expose visitors to the diverse cultural scene in our city. Through free performances and community outreach, we will have additional opportunities to enhance visitor’s expectations and experiences while visiting the Park and Indianapolis.

Now that I have you all excited about this amazing event, here is the lineup for this summer’s FREE Family Arts Series.

Saturday, July 11 at 6:00 P.M. *
Grammy Award-winning storyteller, Bill Harley & a FUNtastic Classic featuring Bob Sander and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.

Saturday, July 25 at 6:00 P.M.
Dance Kaleidoscope will interact with the audience during two educational activities, followed by two full dance performances.

Come early and join Bongo Boy Music School at 5:15 P.M. for a community drumming circle. No experience necessary. Drums will be provided.

Friday, July 31 & Saturday, August 1 at 8:00 P.M. *
Heartland Actors’ Repertory Theatre presents two full performances of Shakespeare’s romantic comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.

Saturday, August 29 at 7:00 P.M.
Jazz in the Park featuring local musician, Cathy Morris and Friends.

The Family Arts Series will feature FREE shows where the grass grows all summer long! Bring the whole family, your blankets and picnic baskets to the outdoor Celebration Amphitheater at White River State Park. Food and drinks will be available for purchase on site.

  • An American Sign Language interpreter will be at the show.

Rain Location: George Washington Community School (2215 W. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN 46222) In case of inclement weather, please call the Visitor’s Center at 317-233-2434 for more information.
