20-year-old man shot to death in Lawrence

A 20-year-old man died this afternoon after he was shot at a Lawrence apartment complex.Aaron Lamere, whose address has not yet been released, died about 4:30 p.m., said Sgt. Robert Donaldson, a spokesman for the Lawrence Police Department.Homicide database: Click here to track homicides in Marion County.Lamere was at an apartment in the Salem Courthouse complex, 5800 block of Agawam Drive, when someone knocked at the door. He went into the hallway, where three shots were fired, Donaldson said. Lamere was shot at least once before returning to the apartment and collapsing. Donaldson said officers arrived about 3:45 p.m. to find Lamere with a gunshot wound in his chest. He was transported to Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.Police are questioning several people in connection with the incident, Donaldson said.
