Indy man critical after Downtown shooting
An Indianapolis man is in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head today after an early-morning argument at a Downtown Indianapolis nightclub.
Indianapolis metropolitan police say Mohammed Steele, 27, apparently was involved in an earlier disturbance at Club Level on East Market Street, according to an IMPD news release. Security personnel at the club had ejected several individuals involved in a disagreement.
About 2 a.m., those in the argument encountered each other again at Virginia Avenue and Delaware Street. Police say suspects in a brown or dark blue Chevrolet Tahoe with dark tinted windows fired shots at three occupants of a silver 2001 Ford Taurus.
One of the shots struck Steele, the driver, in the head.
The front seat passenger of Steeleās vehicle gained control of the car and was able to get it the vehicle stopped on Vermont Street just west of New Jersey Street.
Steele was transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital in critical condition.
IMPD is interviewing witnesses in this case.
Also early this morning, Justin Haskins, 21, Indianapolis, was shot in the leg after a disagreement with another person, according to an IMPD news release.
The incident happened about 1:10 a.m. near the 3800 block of North Emerson Avenue, Haskins was transported to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released. An outstanding warrant for drug possession was expected to be served on him after his treatment for his injury.
Police are searching for a suspect seen fleeing the shooting scene.
