Is everyone keeping up on that JJ Abrams monster movie whose trailer came out before Transformers this summer?
It looks like the film is called "Cloverfield" according to a spy who recorded the latest trailer for it. That has long been the rumored title, but it hadn't been confirmed until now.
I think that if nothing else, the mysterious marketing was pretty cool and is keeping interest in the film pretty high.

Also, type in Cloverfield on the Internet Movie Data Base.

Hi-res trailer now up on Apple:

I caught it before "Beowulf." This one looks interesting. It might be incredible, or it might be an incredible letdown.
And I noticed from the trailer that Abrams didn't direct it. He's the producer.
Too bad I'm not in this movie ... sigh. However, I'd bet my paycheck that it's a giant monster of some kind. That trailer does look VERY interesting.
Yeah, you can see flashes of a giant monster at spots in the trailer. That plus all the army guys pointing up to shoot suggests something godzilla-sized.
But yeah, probably not godzilla. I'm guessing something new.
Yeah, I saw that. Someone has a slow-motion look at the monster (I saw it on superherohype.com).
Looks kind of like a T-rex to me, at least from that obscured, strategically-blurred view.
Again, I think it's something new, but Cthulhu was the first thing that popped into my head.
Again, my guess is it's something totally new and related to in backstory to Slusho, which just happened to appear at the same time as the teaser trailer (and is an obvious Abrams nod).
Maybe after the second sequel they'll cross over with Godzilla and Rodan and Gamera.
