This was my first trip to The Music Mill and really LOVED the venue. Being a huge Styx fan(since the days of 8-tracks) I couldn't pass up the chance to attend this show...even on a weeknight...traveling North on 65 through the construction zone. After a 2 1/2 hour drive that should have taken an 1 1/2 we arrived just as the show was starting...even sitting in the back was a good seat. The show was amazing and the guys really seemed to be enjoying themselves. They fed off of each other and you could tell that they are genuine friends. They performed most of the songs off the new "Influence" CD...a couple of Nightranger songs...Damn Yankees songs...4 Styx songs and a few others for good measure...just 3 guys with guitars(I can't remember the other guys name but its listed on the Myspace page).I have attended all the "BIG" shows this year(Police,Genesis,Van Halen) and I think this may have topped them all(well maybe not Genesis..I waited a lifetime to see them although with no Peter Gabriel). If you missed this show hopefully they will return again(they said they would, but don't all rock stars say that?). I'm thinking a road trip may be in order to see this amazing show one more time before the tour ends.
Did they play "Renegade?"
No but they did a wonderful acoustic version of "Fooling Yourself" and told a lot of stories...just a relaxing evening...after I made it through the traffic..haha
