In case you missed the article in the business section of today's Star, "A taste for more: Downtown dining could get a boost with 5 new restaurants" ... complete story here

Here's an excerpt that lists the potential new restaurants:

Fogo de Chao, a Brazilian steakhouse that's part of a national chain, opening in April on the ground floor of the triangular Zipper Building, at Virginia Avenue and Washington Street. Upper floors will be the main offices for real estate developer Broadbent Co.

Taste of Tango, an Argentinian steakhouse, opening in the spring in a building at 38 E. Washington St. that's being renovated by Fabricio Perez. The native of Argentina moved to the United States six years ago.

Adobo Grill, offering Mexican fare, opening in February or March on the first floor of 110 E. Washington St., a building that was converted into condominiums about six years ago.

Scotty's Brewhouse, a Central Indiana chain catering to college students that reportedly wants to open one of its pub restaurants in the Jefferson Plaza office building at 1 Virginia Ave. Indianapolis developer Greg Allen plans a top-to-bottom renovation of the building for office and residential use. The building, which formerly was a bank headquarters, could gain balconies and a penthouse level.

Dunkin' Donuts, which reportedly wants to take over the closed Panda Express site at Washington and Pennsylvania streets.

I'm excited that a neglected quadrant of downtown is getting a shot in the arm. You'd think that the area would be stronger what with Conseco a block away, but better late than never. Now someone needs to do something with the boarded up commercial spaces north of Penn & Market and Illinois & Market.

I've heard several people rave about Chicago's Fogo de Chao ... lots and lots o' meat flying around all over the place. You use a green / red two-sided disk to signal to chefs whether to keep it coming or to stop.

I'm not sure how an Argentinian steakhouse will differ ... look forward to finding out.

Seriously, a Fogo de Chao in Indy??? That's FANTASTIC!!! What a coup for downtown dining!!

Though I will still frequent the Brazilian Grill on W. 86th because the server is sweet, and because I enjoy supporting local restaurateurs.

Overall thrilled to see some better dining on the east side of Meridian Street.

Argentinian beef is among the best of the world and according to some online sources the country's indigenous cuisine is shaped by Italian, French, Spanish, and Welsh influences. Sounds delish.

Great news! I'll save the money on a trip tp Chicago and spend it on sizzling beef and Caipirinha's!! (Brazilian cocktail- very tasty!) It is a great place for a party... you can linger as long as you like and take your time eating. I'll be there!

I have to tell you that the Fogo de Chao is the best food that I have eaten in the United States. My husband is from Brasil and he thinks that it is the best food he has ever eaten! I think you can't beat the restaurants in Sao Paulo. I am beyond excited that I can eat great food in Indianapolis now!
