OK, speaking of TV, I know "One Day at a Time" took place in Indy.
But where?
I haven't seen ODAAT for ages -- but my favorite episode is the one where Julie decides she's going to be a fashion designer and makes this whole collection and make Barbara not eat for a week so she can wear the clothes for the fashion show.
I think it was set in the Lake Castleton Apartments complex?
Would that be in Castleton, then? I want a sunken living room.
Did the theme song for ODAAT start with the lyrics "This is it..."? My lil bro thought that was the name of the show. "Let's watch THIS IS IT!," he'd exclaim. Something about Bonnie Franklin unnerved me---odd eyeballs. But I do recall it being an early example of tabloid TV attention: that Phillips chick snorting & puking in the bathroom, making the other cast members wait angrily. But I could be wrong about most of this....
I think you're right, John. There was something about snorting and puking. Because I know how much you LOVE Bonnie Franklin, here's a prezzie for you: http://shopping.yahoo.com/video/images/muze/dvd/sm/05/229805.jpg
And you're right ... this IS it!
This is it. This is it. This is life, the one you get So go and have a ball. This is it. This is it Straight ahead and rest assured You can't be sure at all. So while you're here enjoy the view Keep on doing what you do So hold on tight we'll muddle through One day at a time, One day at a time. So up on your feet. Up on your feet Somewhere there's music playing. Don't you worry none We'll just take it like it comes. One day at a time, one day at a time. One day at a time, one day at a time. One day at a time, one day at a time. One day at a time, one day at a time.I don't know where it was supposedly set, but I believe it was implied that it was a high-rise. I moved here in 1983, and I remember wondering that at the time... where would be a likely place. My best guess would be some place like Riley Towers or that place at the corner of 38th and Meridian. But I don't really know what those places were like during that time and whether or not a single mom with two teenage daughters could have rented there or if they would have employed someone like the Schneider character.
Near downtown in a fictional, older style, multi-story apartment building was the home for the ODAAT family. It really had more of a New York setting/feeling than most of us would recognize for Indy even though it was reported to be on N. Meridian St. In one episode the family was able to look down on a Presidential motorcade as it drove by. And of course Schneider, the building's maintenance man, was able to keep an eye on all the residents, especially those occupied by females.
I def would NOT like to tap that.
What about The Facts of Life?
Jennie, what does "Ah, nah nah nah" mean in reference to One Day at a Time? Me am confused.
Don't they say that in the theme song? Or at least a good "Nah, nah, nah!"
