Yes, movie ratings have long been lambasted for their silly preference of violence to sex, and I agree that they should probably at least be held in equal regard, if not weighting violence over sex.

I will say in "Lust, Caution" that the sex scenes were pretty explicit, though frankly I've seen just as much in recent epiodes of the HBO series "Tell Me You Love Me." I do think that rating was justified for that film, but with that being the case there has been plenty in the way of equally explicit violence that garnered R ratings (and in some cases you could say they're comparatively more explicit with regard to violence vs. sex).

I of course disagree with you a bit regarding your take on horror films (per some of our previous discussions), and I'd love to have a good discussion on horror films in general (I'll start a thread on this later in the week).
