What's your favorite holiday cookie -- chocolate chip? peanut butter? the ones with the Hershey Kiss in the middle? Find your favorite cookie recipe and share it with the rest of us. And if you win, we'll all be able to buy your cookie at Rene's Bakery -- how cool is that?
This Friday is the last day to enter the Star's cookie contest. Here are the details:
The Star is accepting entries for the 2007 Holiday Cookie Contest through Nov. 9. New this year -- everyone can try the winning cookie. Starting Dec. 5, Rene's Bakery in Broad Ripple will sell cookies using the winning recipe. Owner A. Rene Trevino says he'll donate profits from the cookie sales to the winner's favorite charity. So take a look in your recipe box and pull out your best cookie recipe (but just one recipe and just cookies " no cake, brownie or fudge recipes, please).
How to submit recipes: Either online at www.IndyStar.com/recipes (the preferred method) or by regular snail mail on 8 ½ -by-11-inch paper to Holiday Cookie Contest, Tina Swarens, The Indianapolis Star, P.O. Box 145, Indianapolis, IN 46206-0145. Include your name, address, daytime telephone number, any comments or anecdotes on the cookie's history and the name of the charity to receive proceeds from cookie sales. Finalists will be notified Nov. 14. Finalists must deliver three dozen cookies to the Star's Downtown office by 9 a.m. Nov. 26, for judging that day. Winning entries will be published in the Dec. 5 edition of Taste.
