I recently heard someone complain about Broadway touring productions and how the shows do not live up to their NYC or other big city counterparts. I am curious about that. While admittedly, I don't have a lot of experience with traveling to New York or Chicago to see some of the bigger productions, I would like to hear from anyone out there who has seen both to weigh in on which is better. Are the shows scaled back that much? I would assume that they have to be to a point, but I also factor in that most of the shows have to be transportable, making it a little hard to create gigantic sets. Still, it has to be comperable I would think while trying to adjust to a universal size that will work for a variety of venues.
I am sure there is some scientific explanation on all of this that is too long and drawn out to go into on here, but I would like to hear from the populous about how the local touring productions stack up to the bigger cities. Anyone?
