Looking for great Soup
Good Morning!
My boyfriend had his wisdom teeth taken out (all 4 at once!). It is also getting a bit nippy outside, so it is SOUP WEATHER!!!
I am looking for a great place to get some good soup, to go, and a large portion of it. Does anyone have any ideas for me?
Tomorrow night i plan on making my own! But tonight, it is friday and I am lazy. I would like to try a local place, instead of a chain. But I am willing to go to a chain.
great timing... there was an article in the Star on this very topic
Hot spots for hot soups Craving a bowl of homemade soup but no chance to make your own? Here are a few local options:
» Barking Dog Café, 115 E. 49th St.; (317) 924-2233. This little Meridian-Kessler cafe is known for its Nantucket-inspired fare, especially its top-notch clam chowder.
» City Cafe, 443 N. Pennsylvania St.; (317) 833-2233. Look for the popular tomato dill soup on Fridays, or try "yesterday's soup" because, as the sign says, everyone knows soup is better the next day.
» Movable Feast, 5741 E. 71st St.; (317) 577-9901. This little Northeastside eatery does a big business with its homemade salads, entrees and soups, such as the popular chicken corn chowder, split pea and Cajun-style ham and bean; call ahead for quarts to go.
» Oakley's Bistro, 1464 W. 86th St.; (317) 824-1231; www.oakleysbistro.com. Enjoy chef/owner Stephen Oakley's well-regarded soups, such as French onion and artichoke bisque, in the restaurant, or buy by the quart to take home.
» Ripple Bagel and Deli, 850 Broad Ripple Ave.; (317) 257-8326; www.ripplebageldeli.com. This spot features sandwiches and homemade soups such as gazpacho, chicken noodle, tomato bisque and white bean chicken chili; check the Web site for daily offerings.
