Bad service

My sister and I were in Broad Ripple and decided to grab a bite at the Canal Bistro. One of my girlfriends has eaten there before and raved about the food. So we were excited to try it and we were glad that it was'nt to busy when we were seated. Our server handed us our menues and never returned. We sat there for about 15 minutes while two other tables were seated. Their servers brought them water and bread and my sister and I just sat there. We finally left and I have never been ignored like that, hopefully they will improve in that area

I hope you complained to someone to let them know you had to wait that long. I have worked in a few restaurants in my life and I am always appalled when there is poor service for no obvious reason.

I have eaten there a few times, and it has been sort of a hot cold experience with service and food. The first time I went, I thought that they had the best gyros and pitas I had ever had. When I went back a second time, the food kind of tasted like it might have been microwaved...slightly tough pita, so-so meat. I have never been ignored completely, but it has been a bit on the slow side for me too. I'll probably give it another chance, but if they blow it, I might have to find another gyros place.

We also have experienced the poor service there! I think I wrote about it in the review section... but the server sort of ignored us and lavished all this attention on the table next to us, it was really weird. I don't know if it was because we were relatively young (in our twenties) or if the table next to us was just spending a lot more but there's really no excuse.

He also charged $3 to switch my fries (that came with the meal) out for a salad but did not warn me ahead of time... didn't like that so much. Might as well just ordered a salad on the side and kept the dang fries.

That being said, we LOVED their fallafel... mmmmmm

If I ever start my own restaurant, I'm putting Dang Fries on the menu. "Want some Dang Fries with that?"

Second the Dang Fries menu item.

If you are in Broad Ripple and you get a gyro anywhere but Taza Cafe you're a fool.
