Greatest Super Hero
Have we covered this already? Who is the greatest Super Hero of all time and if made portrayed by an actor, who was the best at it?
From my other Smallville post, you might have guessed that my personal favorite is Superman and While I loved Chris Reeve in the role, Dean Cain and Tom Welling have done a great job as well, so it's hard to really pick a favorite among those three, but Reeve edges out the competition.
The discussion on superheroes is a source of great contention in my household as my son firmly believes that Spiderman is the best hero of all time...I keep telling him that by his very name "Super"man implies that he is the best...Spiderman is merely amazing and that can have a double connotation if you really think about it. My other friend is a faithful member of the Batman camp, which I don't have a problem with. I like the caped crusader, but he's not Superman...Superman wasn't created on the basis of a lot of personal baggage and too much seed money available. Superman is a god among men which puts him in a different category rather than a mutant that was formed based on a spider bite, or someone who has their abilities because they had access to too much time and money.
Hard to believe that I rarely read a comic book isn't it?
Who are everyone else's favorite super heroes?
superheroes, comic books, movies, Television, Superman, Spiderman, Batman
Hah! I like your anaswer PDubIrie.
When I was a youngen my favorite superhero was definitely Gambit.
By mid teens it became The Maxx.
Now, in anticipation of Watchmen, perhaps Rorschach.
And if you didn't know, you can post the address of a flickr page and it will automatically embed the pic just like with youtube videos and many other sites.
I'd have to go with Spider-man being my favorite, but that has more to do with the fact that I find him an interesting character than anything else. While everyone would want Superman's powers, it's a bit harder to relate to his character, given the fact that he's older and well, invulnerable.
Loved to watch The Maxx when it was on Mtv.
Also, favorite movie superhero is Wolverine, because he's totally badass.
I agree it's hard to relate to Superman since he's invulnerable. That's why I'm casting my vote for a hero who's only well nigh invulnerable: The Tick (either the comic or cartoon version, though the live-action version with Puddy has its merits).
I prefer the cartoon Tick universe to any of Marvel or DC's; it would be so cool to see a danger and then see the Civic-Minded Five drive up to the rescue. Plus the Human Bullet -- "Fire me, boy!" -- is the greatest "What....? How...?" hero.

Once again Channing takes the prize. The Tick is the most underrated animated series of all time.
"The Tick Vs. The Tick" is my favorite of the series, where The Tick squares off against Barry, a hero who is trying to steal the name "The Tick," at a party at a superhero night club. Tick's sidekick Arthur (a pudgy accountant who dresses like a moth but can't quite get the flying right) is relegated to the shed-like sidekick club. Then "The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight" plots to destroy the club during the fight. Brilliance.
As far as the greatest super hero, agreed that Superman is harder to relate to, because of that invulnerability and the larger scope of villains. Aside from Lex Luthor, most of his villains are big-time robots or aliens or whatever (Darkseid, Brainiac, Bizarro, etc). And his rogues gallery in general isn't as strong as, say, Spider-Man's or Batman's.
I'm going overall with Spider-Man, no question, as far as my favorite. he's got cool powers, great villains to fight, plenty of internal struggles, and his problems come down to the everyday level of paying the rent, dating, marriage, etc. And he has that sense of wonder about his predicament--he's impressed with his powers--that gives him that everyman quality (as in, his reactions are the same as ours would be if we got powers like that). But he still has that resentment toward it too.
I agree, Superman is the best, no contest. It's like you say, it's right there in his name. Of the actors, Dean Cain was the cutest, but Christopher Reeve seemed to really bring the character to life.

I was going to put in a vote for Batman, but he really isn't a "super hero", just a hero. So I guess I don't have a pick on this one...
