Your 33 Black Angels at Luna Music
This Saturday, September 20th at 6pm, Luna Music hosts Your 33 Black Angels at its midtown location at the corner of 52nd and College. The East Coast quintet's debut, "Lonely Street", is getting plenty of attention from new fans and the music press. HARP magazine boasted that Your 33 Black Angels is the only band they have ever begged to send them a review copy after hearing so much buzz about the band. So, stop by and catch the band that the esteemed rock critic David Fricke says this about: ". . . The LP is worth the hunt for its pop-wise rattle (Pavement with a case of the Strokes) and singer Josh Westfal's resemblance, in dry, frank voice and cautious optimism, to another local institution: Lou Reed on the Velvet Underground's fourth album, Loaded." I personally hear a little bit of J. Mascis in those vocals. Let's hope they will have copies of their new album, "Tales of My Pop-Rock Love Life" with them so their new Indy fans can purchase the disc ten days before the official release date. The motto of Y33BA is: "We rock the party!"
Thanks for the info johnny. I hear the J. Mascis too, and maybe a little Black Francis. They definitely have a late 80s / early 90s indie rock vibe. Here's a video of them I found on YouTube:
