With all of this talk on the boards about the snubbing of poetry in this city, I think it is wonderful that the American Cabaret Theatre is going to be offering a new series designed to integrate music and poetry in a way that should be exciting to audience members.
Local poets will be performing with musicians throughout the fall and winter to showcase some of their work and the works of others. The first performance will be Indiana Poet Laureate Norbert Krapf and Owl Studio jass pianist Monika Herzig on September 4 at 7:30 p.m. The best part about this event is that it is only $5 at the door. What an affordable way to experience the sounds and energy of the poetry that we have here in the city.

Cool...I figured there is nothing new under the sun and I haven't had an original idea in I don't know how long, but it was worth mentioning. Also for aspiring poets, the Riley festival in Greenfield always hosts a poetry reading as well as poetry contest. That's another way to get your dose of poetry.
