Yesterday I attended RibFeast. The music was great and it was hard to find a bad place to sit. The disappointment came in the food & drink. I came for the day of music, however a small portion of food and a small drink was $10. I must have gotten the wrong idea, because I thought you could sample the different BQ or at the very least get restaurant size portions for your $10 worth of tickets Since I can't afford to send half my paycheck to stay hydrated & eat during the concert, I guess if I want to listen to music I'll have to stick with bars(or Verizon where you can atleast bring water). I have enjoyed many BQ feasts in the many cities I have lived in but I have say this was the first and last time I'll go to Indy's RibFeast

We've gone to the Ribfest for years and have seen it grow to where it is almost uncomfortably crowded. We went last night, primarily to see Jonny Lang. We stayed a bit for Ted Nugent but he was disgusting, vulgar, an embarassment. I am sorry the Ribfest included this perverted racist jerk in their celebration. Although he played the Star Spangled Banner, seeming to promote patriotism, he is a narrowminded bigot idiot. We couldn't stomach his crap and left. On the other hand, Jonny was wonderful, is a sweet talented truely admirable kid we can be proud to have onstage. I hope the Ribfest organizers wizen up and kick Nugent to the hole of obscurity he deserves to be in.

Ribfest is about the money, plain and simple! Because I own a BBQ restaurant in this town, I feel I can add to this conversation. Ribest is not about good BBQ, it is about money. when a rib vendor is hired, by the company that puts on this party, they are told 1 thing. Do not run out of ribs and keep your line( lines are by design BTW). Cooking that many ribs, in some cases about 80 30 lb cases in 4 days, for someone that is anal about their ribs is damn near impossible. you can't cook good BBQ in that amount and make it truly good. The vendors that are there are not the best BBQ cooks around, they are just the fastest. As for the price, the vendors recieve about 65% of every dollar you give them. the hosting company get 35%. Somebody has to pay for those bands!! That is why the event is on a ticket format(no cash) so the HC can track the money!! You want goood BBQ, try looking up the Kansas City BBQ Assoc. The teams there cook for the love of BBQ, not the love of cash!!

that's your opinion, & maybe you feel you're an expert because you own a BBQ restaurant, but I would be SHOCKED if your ribs are as good as Pigfoot &/or Willingham's. I understand they are cooking alot of ribs, but I didn't know rib cooking was rocket science, moreso repeating the same routine in spices, cooking, etc. But what the hell do I & the thousands of people who attended know. BTW, what is the name of YOUR restaurant? I'd like to try it out.
