"Life, Death, Love and Freedom," the new album from Hoosier rock star John Mellencamp, debuted at No. 7 on this week's Billboard magazine Top 200 chart.

More than 56,000 fans purchased "Life, Death, Love and Freedom," according to marketing company Special Ops Media.

The official video for the song "My Sweet Love" can be viewed here. Mellencamp's companion (and co-vocalist) in the video is Karen Fairchild of country act Little Big Town.

Well it sounds pretty good for a guy who is 56 years old and has been playing music for 35 years. This was 20+ album that have been released, and I haven't checked out the rest of the top ten but I bet he's fighting against a bunch of hip-hop and teeny bopper crap! The show last Wednesday at Riverbend in Cincinnati was totally packed and I sure didn't hear anyone complaining after the show. John kicked it the same way he has been for the last 35 years...some of the new songs are a little darker but hey that happens as you age and face that your life is half over. I really love the new album and "If I Die Sudden" rocked out in Cincy...it didn't sound near as "dark" as on the new album.
