Luke Broyles, a 10-year-old Carmel filmmaker, will have his movie on display at Clay Terrace Saturday night.

It is part of Clay Terrace’s “Movies Under the Stars,” a free community outdoor event.

His mother Donna Broyles said it is the first time his movie, “Swords&Shields 2,” has been shown at a community event.

“It’s the first public event so it’s kind of fun,” Donna said. “He’s excited. He’s invited all his friends from church and school and his teachers.”

The West Clay Elementary fourth-grader has had two premieres for his two movies, attended by friends and family. The first “Swords&Shields” was 10 minutes long.

The premiere for “Swords&Shields 2” drew 150-plus people at The Children’s Theatre Institute in Indianapolis in March. Luke wrote, directed, promoted and acted in the movie.

“It’s a great opportunity for us to show this little boy had such a vision and created such a wonderful thing,” said Sharon Tuttle, Clay Terrace’s administrative assistant to the marketing director.

The event, at the mall located at 146th Street and U.S. 31, begins at 7 p.m. with Broyles’ movie shown at dusk, approximately 8:45 p.m., prior to the Disney movie “The Mighty Ducks.”
