A group of Fishers area women returned recently from a 13-day trip hiking in the French and Swiss Alps. Their hike, the "Haute Route", is the high altitude walk that mountaineers have used for centuries, from Chamonix, France to Zermatt, Switzerland. Mont Blanc and the famous Matterhorn were among the many peaks seen. Hiking usually six to eight hours each day from town to town, the women often reached altitudes of just under 10,000 feet and traveled about 80 miles.
