Why I loved Devil's Tower, Wyoming

I ended up at Devil's Tower on a lark while visiting the nearby Mt. Rushmore and it turned out to be the highlight of my trip. From a distance or up close it was truly majestic. There is a real magnatism to it and I understand why the local Native Americans consider it sacred. When I visited in September it was nearly deserted and the yellow Birch trees were at their peak color and gave a real sense of scale to this giant. ( Photo submitted by ellen duncan )
