"Sponge Vase," by Marcel Wanders, is porcelain. The designer developed a technique to produce porcelain without plaster molds. A natural sponge is dipped into fluid porcelain clay, which impregnates the sponge. After drying, the whole thing is fired, and the natural sponge burns away, leaving fired porcelain.
