Today:
Picked up photography early on in high school shooting mainly landscapes and architectural themes for classes. Started shooting paid weddings at age 16. Accepted to Ball States Fine Art Department for photography. Switched to Graphic Arts got a Management degree and a Business Minor, along with classes in Computer Science and Information Technology. I have spent the last 6 years in Information Technology and Support (engineering at Caterpillar, networking with Comcast software design at Johnson Controls, Hardware at HP, IT Support at a local Hospital). Thinking about getting my MBA/Six Sigma but my photography side is coming back and I want to shoot more. Currently shooting events, Bands and Modeling Portfolios. Videographer for "The Wheelchair Monologues".
Welcome to the wonder that is.......Indy.com What kinds of things do you like to shoot?
Pool, I'll bet. Get it? Shoot pool?!! I write my own material by the way.
Nice flippin' gallery JJ.
Oh, rock art...Rock art is good!
You've got some nice shots in your gallery, I love 22! I love some of the model photos as well. (especially some with the snakes!) What are these shoot out's you mention in the captions? I've never heard of them.
Best advice I can give is to keep going, never stop shooting. Anyone asks if you would shoot something for them, never turn them down because if you start turning away business you'll notice that people will stop asking. Sometimes a good practice is to go someplace to shoot something, but only take 1 lens with you. Maybe not even your most versitile lens, it could be completely not the lens you need. Like shooting sports with a Wide Angle, just to see what you will come up with. Do you have a website online?
Very Cool man. You'll have to let me know if there are any more of those shoot outs coming up, I'd love to go to one just for the novelty of going. I really don't do much fashion (not that i'm trying incredibly to get into it) but its always a good time shooting when you've got some good talent to shoot! You should look into a long fast lens for your concert work. A Lens like the 70-200 F2.8. It's expensive but once you buy it you'll wonder how you lived without it! Plus with the Crop factor on most digital cameras it starts at 105mm (ish) which is awesome for portraiture. I won't lie I use that lens A LOT more than I thought I would.
I put up a thing on that modelmayhem site, seemed like an interesting place. I don't know what my number is, or how any of it works; but thanks for the info, and I'll look forward to the shoot outs!
Hate to be the one to mention this, but I don't think any of your shots are on the Point of View page on this site, and I think you should add them...specially since Braden and Marc are both into your gallery. Just sayin'
http://www.indy.com/photos/new?tag=pointofview should take you to the submission page, if not, go to arts and culture page, and there is a Point of view tab about half way down the page.
Sweet.
I had a day and location agreed on but when I tried to get a time I never heard back so I just let it go. Honestly I havn't signed onto MM since then, I've just been busy. What are you shooting to keep busy lately?
I'm not too worried about MM, My profile is up, if someone wants to find me they will.
Those sound like very cool shoots, I can't wait to see some of the finals out of it. I saw your myspace page, I should have added you as a friend except my myspace isnt very exciting (I don't sign onto it much). I don't use it in the same way that you do, I've just got random things on it; no photos. Glad you've got a lot of shoots going man, that's awesome. Keep me posted I can't wait to see them!
If you ever need video work, etc., check me out on the good side! Nice work!
Dan H. WolfLab Productions
Nicky Blaines huh? Nice! I didn't even know they were having a fashion show. Was that a paid gig, or were you just there to shoot it/enjoy it? I'll check out the myspace later, but the ones you have posted here look like a good time!
You're like....everywhere, man!!! :-D
