Best known locally as a singer, Daniel (D.A.) Young is a also a poet, songwriter, and multimedia artist. As a poet, he has given public readings in Indianapolis, Chicago, and in several venues in New York City. He has performed extensively in the Indianapolis area as a vocalist, in 2002-2004 with his own trio, D.A. & the Convictions; for three years as a solo act billed as "D.A. Sings Jazz," and most recently with pianist Ken Fary / The Ken Fary Trio. Daniel produced and sang on a ten-song collection of standards, recorded with Fary and several of Indy's best jazz musicians, called "A Place to Dream," a 2007 release by Dreamwalker Media. A CD Release concert was held at The Jazz Kitchen in March, and the group has made three appearances at The Chatterbox Jazz Nightclub. D.A. has also performed twice this year for the A.M.P. Series at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. He has performed at the Center Stage Cafe, Brix in Zionsville, Eddie Merlot's, D'Vine Wine Bar, and Deano's Vino in Fountain Square, as well as numerous private events.
