Today:
I've written about pop music for The Indianapolis Star since May 1998.
With apologies to Durham Bulls catcher Crash Davis, I believe in the Beatles' "White Album," Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation," Outkast's "Stankonia" and the David Lee Roth era of Van Halen.
I believe Pete Townshend was the greatest single talent of the British Invasion. I believe Neil Young does his best work with Crazy Horse. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing drum solos and any comebacks by Garth Brooks. I believe in Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, the Warped Tour and calling the venue "Deer Creek" rather than "Verizon Wireless Music Center."
And I believe nightclub concerts in Indianapolis should be open to anyone 18 and older.

See, David, this is my solo project (doya suppose it will get me a raise?)!...
Hola, compadre! Nice to see you in cyberspace... have fun with Van Halen tonight!
Dave you have us worried. For the xfest review you used the phrase "good old days".
Anything in your forthcoming article about the picture sleeves for Beatles 45s? I got some great ones in a trade with an Elvis collector---I traded a promo RCA LP that had one Elvis song on it (Blue Hawaii) for several Beatles picture sleeves---the best is the sleeve for Stawberry Fields Forever---photo of Sgt. Pepper era Beatles on one side & childhood photos on reverse.
The Indy Star rock and roll beat is in good hands with Dave Lindquist.
Lester Young -- among your favorites! Wow! Now there's a discerning fellow critic. Nice to see Wes Montgomery and Bill Evans in the list, too. (Who are all those other people, though?) It's a pleasure to serve with you, man.
I believe I love every single one of your music intrests. The Beatles are my ABSOLUTE favorite band and nothing could surpass them.
Thank you. You have some amazing photos up here as well. I especially love the one of the circle at night (from above), beautiful!
Great concert photos! You really capture some unique perspectives.
I'm surprised we haven't met or spoken before. I work at the Vogue, and I read your work all the time! Thank you for the comment. Yes, Jamiroquai rocks:)
Oh, I see. I just thought you were multi-talented! :-)
Thanks for the clarification.
Hi David!
Thanks for "fanning" us! We're new here so there's not much info on us, but you can listen to our some of our tunes at www.winwithwillard.com. Thanks again.

Noticed you have Chamberlain on your musical interests. David Moore, the lead singer, should be coming out with a new album soon. It'd be great to have him around the Indy scene again...
OH! and your comment about concerts only being available to those 18 and older? how dare you. its youth like me that work my ass off worshipping, promoting, and spending my minimum wage pay checks on a band's merch only to have adults slap a big "21 and older only" in my face when a band finally realizes that indiana has musical interest and decide to roll on in once every million years. how much did it hurt to have the kings of leon come to the vogue knowing that every kid at my school is sporting their tees? A LOT.
Charming! And Pete Townshend was clever, wasn't he. It's too bad that the "invasion" got less focused as it became more and more fueled by cute tailoring.
But I suppose if you're gonna replace genius with one thing, it might as well be cute tailoring. Haha
Always good to see DL in the mix...hope all is well with you. Should be sending you some new tunes for Christmas..ha ha....Happy Holiday to you and yours
David,
I met you a few years ago when I was hanging with Marc Cutsinger from Bigger Than Elvis. Our Doors Band, Strange Daze, is playing at The Moon Dog Tavern tonight, Jan 11th @ 9:00pm - 12:00am. We are doing a "Live" video.
Could you come out or request that one of the other Music Reviewers attends the show at the club at 96th and Grey Road in Carmel?
We would truly appreciate it.
Thank You,

It's Gonna Happen!
new to the area and just wondering any dance clubs open to anyone between the age of 18-20?
One of the biggest disapointments of my young life is when you declined membership to our now-defunct fantasy baseball league.
In other news, I don't have a whole lot going on.
Yeah, since this year will a full 100 years since the last!
David,
I met you a few years ago when I was hanging with Marc Cutsinger from Bigger Than Elvis. Our Doors Band, Strange Daze, is playing at The Mouse Trap, March 1st @ 10:30pm - 1:30am.
This is my second attempt to invite you out to see us. The band has been doing very well. After selling out The Moon Dog on Jan. 11th, we were asked back for 5 more dates. Sam King from D & S productions is drumming up lots of interest and gigs.
Could you come out or request that one of the other Music Reviewers attends the show at the Mouse Trap at 56th and Keystone on March 1st?
We would truly appreciate it.
Thank You,
Strange Daze - Celebration of The Doors

Yo Dav,
You should do a story on Hip Hops greatest misses, i.e. De La Souls Millie pulled a pistol on Santa
Must I forever be in Mecurio's shadow?!
MECURIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just wanted to say thanks, cuz if it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't be able to enjoy the summer concert season. You were the first to report on Tom Petty AND Jimmy Buffett coming to town. I have been trying like crazy to find out when Buffett was coming back, cuz I know those tix sell out in 10 minutes! Thanks again
LINQUISSSSSSSSSSS
U KNOW you're the man Dave. holla @ me!
Hello Dave. How are you?
I was looking for some archived info for links and thought I would say hello.
What do you think about Muse and Vampire Weekend? I recommend Brian Ray and Black Unicorn "Mondo Magnet" on Whooray Records. There are some cool videos on You Tube also.
I plan to have some new stuff later on this year. I'll keep you posted. Very cool stuff going on, but I can't talk about it just yet.
Thanks for all the great support !
