A multilingual (German, French, English and a little of an African language) thirty something world citizen, who has visited all continents, lived in Amsterdam, Paris and Berlin and recently been transplanted from one of the best multicultural capital cities in Europe to Indy. Still learning how to find my way around this town and meet new people. What appears difficult since one can't just meet people in the here none-existing public transportations system as possible in Western Europe. So the questions are:
How open-minded is the Midwest, how liberal (haha, just kidding, discovered that already.), how multicultural and how 'worldly' is Indianapolis?

Bjork? I haven't heard that one yet, but thank you! Welcome to Indy! I love my hometown, but it is kind of Cincinnasty. It's like a pretty lady in a pretty dress that's covered in dirt.

Actually I was wrong. It is kimikokopuffs who resemble Bjork. Take a look at pic 14 and 15. Damn, that is totally Björk 10 years earlier! I think I am in love. lol

You sound like you have had some really interesting life experiences! So, what do you miss most in the USA -- public transportation, awesome food, healthy lifestyles, . . .? I have to say that I have found quite a few things that I really like about every other country that I have visited (i.e. Italy, Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, . . .). Is there any particular type of food or restaurant that you are looking for here in Indy? Maybe I can help you find it.

As for now, I would say what I miss most are: Reliable, intellectual, socio-politically and enviromentally responsible friends of all kinds of ethnicity and backgrounds; deeper thoughtful, serious but also childish conversations beside the usual 'how are you', 'where do you work' and 'did you watch the game' shallow networking conversations so common in the US (chill out people, no offense).

I do cook for myself more than I eat out but I enjoy all kinds of ethnic food. I love Asian food, I already discovered PF Chang, their Mongolian Beef is superb! Quit unhealthy but incomparable with Fast food. When it comes to 'fast' food I prefer a Gyros or a Kebab what I have found in Broad Ripple. I am still searching for a Jamaican and African Restaurant here though. I was impress to see how many ethnic Restaurants were located in Bloomington, including a Tibetan Restaurant, compared to Indy. Do you know any of those here in Indy?

Hi - I don't know of any African restaurants myself, but I have heard of one called Abysinnia Ethiopian Restaurant. It is on W. 38th St. You can search for it on this website. They serve enjera (traditional flat bread) and some other foods that look pretty tasty. Actually, one of my favorite restaurants in town is called El Morocco. You should look it up also. It's on W. 86th St. Oh, by the way, if you are not familiar with it, the International Festival is coming up Nov. 15 - 17 (I think those are the dates, Fri - Sun, anyway). Do a google search for it. It will be at the fairgrounds here in Indy. There is AWESOME food from many different countries. They have cool shows, set up booths from all around the world. It's really neat. I go every year.
