Today:
Mediaholic. Music Obsessed. Art Lover. Mind of design. I've been a Hoosier all my life, living in Indy except when I was in college in Bloomington. I was a studio art major and art history minor. I'm currently living solo in downtown Indy just a couple blocks from work. When I'm not trying to be creative in my apartment, I like seeing live music, going to art galleries, visiting the bars or just hanging out at my friends places. To get a better idea of the kind of music, art and websites and other random things that I like you can visit my last.fm and stumbleupon pages.

You're my best friend.
There i said it.
Nice work on the site Ben. Killin' it.
Ben, the site looks great. If I sign your guestbook, will this automatically allow you to become my friend?

Whoops. Accidentally reported the comment. Maybe we should move that next to delete instead of all the way on the left. Anyway, to answer your question, I don't think so. But it looks like you already figured out how to add me as one of your people.
Yeah, you know me Holmes. Makin' friends all day. Btw, you guys got a TON of content brought over today. Unreal. Nice work.
What up? Thanks for the comment! One of my primary goals in life will be to point out exactly what you're not doing right. :)
Hello secondary :) I finally got on, aren't you excited!
I'm coming for you. Nothing can stop the icey hands of death.
Comments in ascending order by date suck. :)
Anyone who can list chillin' with their homies and meeting new peeps as their activites with full awareness that they are leaving themselves open to ridicule is alright by me. Homie.
Thanks! Did you hear our new song on Myspace?
Hey Ben!
When will the Music Profiles be ready?
So I can keep tabs on you...
Will Bernie get his own profile?
Ben is the most patient person in the world.
Ben is the most patient person in the world.
Geez. It's about time you said that!
Will Bernie get his own profile?
Only Bernie knows. And Bernie isn't here right now.
Hey Ben...thank you for the information...I have uploaded 3 photos to the art section... Best wishes!...oh...if you INTAKE still needs freelance photographers please send them my request for more info...thanks buddie eric smith
I asked myself "Why don't I attempt to create a dialog with all of the other people who have "art" as one of their tags?" Though not knowing where the move might take me, I felt that the tag alone was reason enough to become a fan of yours. Essex
Finally I fanned you! Go see "Darfur Now" it's a great film, just saw the sneak preview tonight! Cheadle is such a great person and so are all the other 5 roles.
I can't wait to add my music! Thank you Barn Narf keep up the beautiful work
Thank you for the heads-up on the "Point of View" in Arts & Culture. I just posted a work that I did a few years ago downtown. Since I've not used a site like Indy.com much at all before, I appreciate any and all helpful pointers. Again, thanks!
I've followed your suggestion and uploaded a fairly new piece of art to Point of View. I hope you enjoy "Indianapolis Dusk".
peace, dc
Hey- I actually work for Gannett, but I am up on the 3rd floor at the Star in the RTC place. Pretty fun. Cool People. I am actually a photographer/designer, I have some of my photos still hanging up at the Mass Ave Starbucks (job #2), and I had my first - First Friday in September. All have been a great experience to get my name a little more "out there". My friend runs the indymojo.com site and I've been kickin around there since last May, but I wouldn't mind getting my feet wet around indy.com.
Cheerio.
Off to celebrate my 26th in The Rip.
Turns out I do have a question. After I log-on I see an "upload photos" option near my avatar. Where would those photos go if I chose the option? Thanks!
Thanks for the info. I did notice that when I uploaded a photo to Point of View. I didn't realize it applied elsewhere.
Thanks for dropping by our new profile on Indy.com! We're gonna upload a podcast later tonight or tomorrow morning previewing a show next Monday November 19th featuring a couple of bands touring nationwide called Blinded Black and The Hottness. Local bands Something To Call A Hero, Easy Come Easy Go and Brake Left will also support the bill.
My wife and I met you guys outside the Murphy building working the TechnoVan at Fountain Square a few weeks ago. The site rocks and has real potential... good luck and thanks for the killer shirt!
thanks for your reply on my post!
um thanks for the heads up, however this is my first post.... never even heard of this place till a couple days ago. I am tho apart of a group of citizens who depise our over arrogant governor and pompous administration. I will give andy a note and see how many people he has on here or maybe profiles himself... hes pretty sly thus way, anywho.. greetings and salutations
Ah thanks very much! The site is great. I'm lookin forward to postin' more. Is there a way to place the album covers in my posts?
Excellent. Thanks very much!
Glad you liked the flickr stream Ben.
I'm gonna coerce the Party Crashers to update/make their profiles with chocolate this weekend. So far we've got Liz on my Fav's.
Hi Ben!
Thanks for the support... see you Thursday... gobble gobble
Ben,
Thanks for coming out to the show on Saturday. I appreciate when people are willing to take a chance and see some bands they haven't before.
Peace,
TJ
Oh look you're the Tom of Indy.com. How the hell are ya..
Thanks for taking care of the glitch in IE7,you rock.
Could you add a link to the home page explaining your new features?
Hey! Thanks for checking out my work and for the positive word , and also for recommending P.O.V.
dude, are you mocking me? lol..don't worry. eye truly believe the highest form of flattery is imitation...so are eyes the only think you draw? eye love eyes and eyebrows..they are very telling and full of expression...did eye just geekify myself?
well eyed like to see your 'i's' sometime...checking to see if you posted some in gallery
checked faces, but no eyes...:(
Good to see you at the Vogue, hope you had a good night. What was your brothers web addy again?
Thanks for your kind remarks, Ben. Let me know what you think of the movie, particularly all of the religious criticism that surrounds it.
I'm digging your apt. window series, uh, pair.
It's a great site. Y'all have done a good job. Yay for open discussion about books and art...oh, and food, too!
Where's the controversy?
It's going to be a blast! Since you are "music obsessed", I imagine you are already familiar with LUCE -- can't wait to see them perform again!
Happy new year!
Check out my gallery in a couple of weeks, there should be more photos of hand-painted signs.
Hi, Ben....we would love to have you there. And bring a video camera too...great. Keep in mind it is the "maiden voyage" of the event...we will have at least 2 other "Robbing the Bank" events this year. I think I mentioned one may be a concert on the roof of the building. The way the parking lot is set up, the crowd can see the roof well from it....so, in May or August we will do an outdoor one.
Thanks for your support!!
We have the same first name!
if (Doug = "lives in California" && Ben = "Still in Indiana"){ Ben.BuildAPortfolioSlacker('Today', 'MoveToCali); }else{ Doug.BreakFootOffInAss('Ben', 'Immediately'); }
I can get IM but everyone in the new office uses skype.
I am still on a loaner PC because my laptop didn't come in until today. (i had to crop an image in paintshop today)
I'll probably put IM on my machine too when they hand it off.
Where do I find the "online conduct" section?
Thanks Greg

Thought you might be interested in this post. You are the man for making the listings/reviews on the site more democratic. Any ideas?
Thanks BenDot you made my day. -NicoleDot
Let's be each others' fans, Ben. We can both rock that way.
Okay Ben - Here it is. I work for a website and we were working a redesign but they put together this 'committee' to help with it and they are - marketing/editorial type people so let just say they have taken over the redesign and it's getting interesting. Now I am just the butcher - taking apart their design and making it work. Which I am okay with I just have a bad feeling this is going to come back to bite me in the butt. I really hope I am wrong.
You have a lot of comments. That's great and all, but unfortunately you're not allowed in the Dot club, even though Nicoledot tried to enter you in.
Here is what I wrote to Nicole:
According to legend, it was decreed by the Gods that a group of originals would be renamed in the image of the great indy.com (maybe the lead god's name is Indy Com...not sure about that).
Anyway, those who were loyal and true (collectively called Those Who Were Loyal and True) were renamed in the following style: firstname.lastname, and forged in the fires of the indy.com cyberspace.
Those brave souls were then tapped for life everlasting in what would be known as the Dotclub, and would have a cool nerd nickname for all eternity.
Henceforth, you are Nicoledot. I am Joedot. jim.walker is Jimdot, doug.hineline is Dougdot, and so on.
Our privilege and curse is that we must eternally seek out those believers and induct them into the club. Our souls ache for it, and our Gods demand it.
Basically that means that the people who followed that original naming convention (which I was told should be firstname.lastname, like the indystar e-mail). But I noticed that there were relatively few people who actually followed that, so I decided to make it an exclusive club.
But since you are otherwise worthy, you can be Benspace, which would have to equate to one of those guys in recent vampire movies who hangs out with vamps and wants to be a vamp but doesn't get turned for no other reason than the vamps don't want to turn them. :)
Okay, okay. But you have to be Benspace. But you're in. :)
Ben, Thank you for your kind comments and support. Hopefully the brunch pizza selections will be printed on my website very soon. Appreciate your support! Thanks, The Jockamo Pizza Monkey
Is there some sort of prize for that? Maybe like one of the old Marvel Comics "no-prize"? It could be called an Indy. Or a Dot.
hey thanks! take it easy!
Ben, I have a question and thought you might be able to answer it. I was in the "edit profile" section of my page and found the "create new gallery" option. My questions are, what is the advantage of a second gallery and can you direct me to someones page that has one so I can see an example? Thank you!
Great links thanks. I had seen Hanuka's work before but had forgotten about it. Good stuff.
Thank you very much! I look forward to using that feature soon.
Thank-you very much for the recycling link.Just in a dumpster won't work for me.
Yep, it's Kmeelah from StumbleUpon. Seen any other Stumblers around here?
Glad that Audrey is being interviewed about her artwork. Maybe that plus the review of her show will get people out to see her excellent work.
How do you link up posts? Or is that only something admins can do?
that's cool. I appreciate you doing that. How do people get from one to the next? I just started using the formatting coding too! that's sweet!
OH YEAH!
I have completed my uploads of about 8 pieces. Do I just wait for a response, or is there something I can do to aid in the selection process? Thanks for the help, I am brand new to this website, and I have had interest in getting my work in the publics eye, as well as in printed media such as this.
How do we know who wins the contests?
Good to see you guys the other night. We should all get together sometime soon and see what things we can make happen this year. Keep in touch.
Ben, I'm still having the same problem uploading an event. I continue to get the "500We're sorry something went wrong..." message Thanks for looking into this. John
Thanks!
oooo - ben - love this week's question! embarrassing answer, but it should get lots of response!!!
oops I was talking to myself agin wasn't I? Just tryin to get the party started I guess. Hope you can make the show, it'll be amazing all bias aside.
I have a suggestion. I was posting pictures and rearranging them in folders and such and realized, I can only have 10 galleries. I created my 11th and poof one was gone. I about cried! All that work was gone! sniffle Could you add more? It definitely looked like there was a lot more room. Maybe 30? Unlimited would be awesome haha. Okay, I'm asking for too much. Doesn't hurt to ask, right?
I have a suggestion. I was posting pictures and rearranging them in folders and such ...
Thanks Ben. Just to let you know what it's doing. When I click on View Galleries, it only shows 10. But when I click on Manage Galleries it does show me all of them. I thought they were disappearing but they aren't. But if people can only view 10, that would make me sad :( haha.
:-) Glad you like ze site. What was your brothers web address again?
Awesome, thank you. I really enjoy doing the dinning reviews, I'm a foodaholic.
I might have something I'm working on coming up that I could use a little graphic design help with, I'll let you know if it pans out.
Have a good one man!
where's the question of the week for this week? Was out of touch yesterday and didn't want to miss it!
Thanks Ben! Thanks for your support!
Thanks for the comment Ben. I'm enjoying your station so far! Here is my Pandora profile with a link to my station if you're interested.

Can I not migrate my screen name and password to work on the new Indystar.com website?
Hey ben, thanks for stopping by my guestbook! I hope you can make it out to First Friday this Friday. If you do, please say hey.
Ben, Yep I know...hopefully the stars will be aligned better this month for me
Ben, yes I deleted my comment. It wasn't relevant to the thread so I just thought I should get rid of it! Thanks for being open to new ideas, I find that impressive for Gannett! LOL, sorry to give you such a hard time.
I enjoy spending time on here. Must be nice to do it professionally. Any indy.com sponsored live events off the network?
Karma likes me, it really likes me! Seriously, I am grateful and I love the site. It is very low-fuss and low-maintenance and a great way to stay informed and win some prizes.
Ben, I have a question related to the one I asked you January 26 (yeah... I'm slow). I've decided to use the "Create New Gallery" possibility on my page. I've tried some things... here's my questions. Is it possible to have photos in my separate gallery(s) that I don't keep in my "Photos" section? I've tried to do this but when I delete the pix from my Photos section, they're gone from the Gallery section as well. I suspect there is no way around this but I thought I'd ask anyway.
Thanks for your help!
